Biggest storyline: It could be the new coaching staff as former HC Rod Sherman is down the street at Arapahoe. The Eagles have six home games this season. Four are on the road. They could go a month without playing a competitive team down the stretch.

Names to watch this season: RB Josiah Davis, CU verbal and QB Luke McCaffrey, NE verbal.

Biggest holes to fill: The Eagles will be looking to fill multiple holes on both the offensive and defensive lines due to graduation losses. This includes several skill position and a few slots on the defensive secondary. About a half a dozen transfers might be the solution.

Gonzo’s Early Take: Valor and head coach Ed McCaffrey will welcome back his starting running back and split time quarterback, his son this fall, and some talented linebackers. That’s always a great place to start. The Eagles also have a talented underclassmen group. Keep an eye on the development of sophomore DB Zaire Jackson along with several others from the 2020 and 2021 group. Getting off to a great start will be a challenge, as two of their first five games are against out of state teams and three very competitive Colorado squads.

#GONZOWATCHLIST to be featured in August Football magazine. List prepared for Spring evaluations.
